Robert Barrack, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Washington University Physicians in St. Louis.

Dr. Barrack serves as the Charles F. and Joanne Knight Distinguished Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. Author of over 250 peer review publications, Dr. Barrack is editor of

The Hip for the Master’s Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery textbook series.

 

His accolades include the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's Excellence in Research award, the Coventry and Ranawat awards from the Knee Society, the Stinchfield, Aufranc, and Charnley awards by

the Hip Society, and the Marshall Urist award by the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons. He was twice honored with the James Rand award by the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

 

A Knoxville-based University of Tennessee alum, Dr. Barrack attended medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. He completed residency training in orthopedic surgery and a fellowship

in orthopedic biomaterials at New Orleans-based Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Barrack also served as a fellow in hip and implant surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in

Boston.
