Steamboat Orthopaedic Associates surgeons perform new procedure for 1st time — 4 details

Bryan Bomberg, MD, and Alexander Meininger, MD, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.-based Steamboat Orthopaedic Associates performed a new procedure that was the first of its kind in the Rocky Mountains.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Dr. Bomberg and Dr. Meininger performed the first Vericel matrix-assisted autologous chondrocyte implantation in the Rocky Mountains.

 

2. The operation was performed on a 4.3cm2 articular cartilage defect of the medial femoral condyle.

 

3. Dr. Meininger recently succeeded Dr. Bomberg as owner, operator and president of Steamboat Orthopaedic Associates.

 

4. Hand surgeon Patrick B. Johnston, DO, also recently joined the practice.
