Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Scott Sporer of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush

Scott Sporer, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.

Dr. Sporer specializes in hip, knee and joint reconstruction and replacement and has special interests in primary and revision arthroplasty surgery, anterior and posterior approaches to hip replacement and minimally invasive techniques.

 

Currently serving as associate professor at Rush University Medical Center, Dr. Sporer also sits on the board of directors for The American Joint Replacement Registry and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

 

His research interests include long-term follow-up studies of the hip, complications associated with total knee replacement and the regional variation in medicine.

 

A member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Hip Society, Dr. Sporer also serves as a team physician for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Fire.

 

Dr. Sporer graduated from Iowa City-based University of Iowa College of Medicine before completing residencies at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., and Hartford-based Connecticut Children's Medical Center. He then served as an adult reconstruction fellow at Rush University Medical Center.
