Here are nine orthopedic surgeons who made this week's headlines:

Mark Ciota, MD, was featured for his juggling act as an orthopedic surgeon and hospital CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minn.


State Rep. Gregory F. Murphy, MD, (R-9) co-sponsored a North Carolina bill authorizing parents to decide when their child would be allowed to return to play following a potential concussion without approval from a medical professional.


Orthopedic surgeon and hand specialist Michelle G. Carlson, MD, of New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery performed surgery on Toronto Raptors' guard Kyle Lowry's wrist.


Walt Lowe, MD, of Houston-based Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center operated on Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton's knee.


After a follow-up MRI revealed the extent of 76ers player Joel Embiid's meniscus tear, chief team medical director Jonathan Glashow, MD, and the team announced the center would miss the rest of the season.


James Andrews, MD, examined Boston Red Sox pitcher and former AL CY Young winner David Price, who sought a second opinion after undergoing an MRI on his elbow.


The Minnesota Twins announced David Altchek, MD, will perform Tommy John surgery on Alex Kirilloff's left elbow next week.
