Mark Ciota, MD, of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minn., has balanced his ever-expanding roles in clinical practice and administration, according to the Albert Lea Tribune.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Dr. Ciota began his career as an orthopedic surgeon in 1995 before taking on an administrative role on the committee level after one year.

 

2. In 2004, Dr. Ciota became CEO of the Albert Lea location and was named CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin in 2012.

 

3. He is on the board of trustees for Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin and is chairman of a community engagement committee for locations in southeast Minnesota, where he also serves as chairman of surgery.

 

4. Dr. Ciota conducts weekly orthopedic surgeries.
