Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. David Geier of Sports Medicine Specialists

David C. Geier, MD, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.-based Sports Medicine Specialists is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist.

After serving as director of sports medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Dr. Geier opened his own practice in 2014. He primarily treats knee and shoulder injuries with arthroscopic surgeries.

 

His medical writing has been published in newspaper columns, magazines, sports websites and more. In addition, Dr. Geier currently serves as head physician for the Charleston Battery of the MLS and sits on the sports medicine evaluation committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

After graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Geier completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tenn., and his sports medicine fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. While in St. Louis, Dr. Geier served as team physician for the University and helped treat St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Rams players.
