Dr. Jason Hochfelder performs 1st robotic-assisted knee replacement in region: 4 notes

Jason Hochfelder, MD, is the first orthopedic surgeon to utilize robotic-assisted total knee replacement in New York state's Lower Hudson Valley region, according to Lower Hudson Valley's The Journal News.

Here's what you need to know:

 

1. Dr. Hochfelder performed the region's first robotic-assisted total knee replacement in early 2016, at the Sleepy Hollow-based Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.

 

2. Over the past year, he has performed seven other robotic-assisted operations. In total, Dr. Hochfelder performs more than 100 knee replacements every year.

 

3. Dr. Hochfelder uses the OMNIbotics total joint replacement system, which allows surgeons to design and test implants on a virtual, computerized operation before operating on a patient.

 

4. Dr. Hochfelder is a physician at Hudson Valley Bone and Joint Surgeons, a practice with locations in Hawthorne, N.Y., and Yonkers, N.Y.
