Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Larry Field of Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center

Larry D. Field, MD, practices with Jackson-based Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, where he serves as director of the center's sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship program. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. He also serves on the board of directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Field has special expertise in shoulder, elbow and wrist surgery. He has made more than 250 scientific presentations, both nationally and internationally. He has published three books on shoulder and elbow surgery, around 75 book chapters and more than 100 scientific articles. He is a part of American Orthopedic Association's Future Leaders Program. He has previously served as an assistant team physician for the New York Mets.

 

After completing his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Dr. Field completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed a sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also completed an AO International Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship in Germany.
