Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Mark Galland of Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina

Mark Galland, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon practicing with Raleigh-based Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina. Dr. Galland previously served in the United States Navy at Naval Hospital Lejeune (N.C.). He serves as team physician and orthopedic consultant to the Carolina Mudcats, Cincinnati Reds and the Advanced A affiliates of the Cleveland Indians MLB team.

Dr. Galland focuses on treating sports injuries. He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. His research work has appeared in publications such as the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. In additional to the care he provides for professional teams, Dr. Galland serves as medical consultant for Intercollegiate Athletics and as a team physician for local high schools, including East Wake High School in Wendell, N.C.


Dr. Galland earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also completed his orthopedic residency. He trained under sports medicine specialist Michael Brunet, MD, during his residency.
