At the AAOS' 2016 annual meeting, the organization appointed Brian J. Galinat, MD, to its board.
Here are five takeaways:
1. Dr. Galinat, MD, is the orthopedic surgery chair at Christiana Care Health in Wilmington, Del.
2. He will be a member at large and will present the views of orthopedic surgeons aged 45 or older.
3. Christiana Care's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery performs more than 7,500 procedures annually.
4. In 2004, he became the chief of orthopedic surgery at Christiana Care, and helped create the independent orthopedic surgery department in 2011.
5. After completing his orthopedic residency at Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, he underwent his shoulder and sports medicine fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
