Norwood Hospital receives Blue Distinction designation for knee, hip replacements — 6 highlights

Norwood (Mass.) Hospital was recently designated as a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, according to Wicked Local Norwood.

Here are six highlights:

 

1. The national Blue Distinction Program highlights hospitals with proven expertise in delivering specialty care.

 

2. Norwood Hospital offers comprehensive knee and hip replacement services, including MAKOplasty, which is robotic-assisted partial knee and total hip replacement.

 

3. Norwood Hospital was also chosen as a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement because of factors related to quality, safety and efficiency.

 

4. To be designated a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement, medical facilities are measured against various criteria, including expertise and training of surgeons, surgical volume, quality management, clinical outcomes, decision-making processes and patient education.

 

5. The Blue Distinction Center designation also recognizes medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality care in areas of bariatric surgery, cardiac care, complex and rare cancers, spine surgery and transplants.

 

6. Norwood Hospital is one of 24 hospitals in Massachusetts to earn the distinction for knee and hip replacement.
