Dr. F. Scott Gray begins implementing 3D printing technology — 3 takeaways

Orthopedic

F. Scott Gray, MD, has begun using 3D printing technology in the management of complex traumatic, post-traumatic and disease-causing foot and ankle deformities, according to the Danbury Daily Voice.

Here are three takeaways:

1. Dr. Gray is both a foot and ankle surgeon with CT Family Orthopedics and co-director of the Danbury Foot and Ankle Center in Danbury, Conn.

2. He is using the technology to visualize the geometry of deformities and understand how to approach the reconstruction of these difficult problems with greater detailed preoperative visualization than other current radiographic techniques allow or in addition to them.

3. Dr. Gray hopes to be able to reconstruct deformities that otherwise might not be safe to reconstruct, as well as improving outcomes of case and further minimizing complications.
