San Angelo Community Medical Center implements joint replacement excellence program

Orthopedic

San Angelo (Texas) Community Medical Center has implemented Destination Center of Superior Performance for Joint Replacement program created by Marshall Steele, MD, according to a San Angelo Live report.

The program, which has been in operation for around four months at SACMC, has two main components, notes Joe Wilkinson, MD, an orthopedist at the medical center. The first part involves data collection on each patient, as well as the establishment of a collaborative environment of care. The second part of the program involves patient selection, wherein joint replacement patients with additional complications are not eligible for the program.

A wing of the hospital is now dedicated to joint reconstructive surgery, according to the report.
