In the fall of 2024, Anacortes, Wash.-based Island Health purchased a facility from Proliance Surgeons Skagit Northwest Orthopedics, also located in Anacortes, in order to expand, according to a June 11 report from Go Anacortes.
On May 19, the former Proliance orthopedic clinic reopened as Island Orthopedics. The new facility will be led by orthopedic surgeon Eric Secrist, MD, who formerly worked for Proliance full-time and had practice privileges at Island Orthopedics’ previous location.
The new clinic, which will offer imaging services, orthopedic and arthroscopic care, will open to the public on June 12.
The clinic will also partner with Island Sports & Spine to offer nonoperative care for musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions.
Currently, Dr. Secrist is the only orthopedic surgeon in the region, spanning four counties, according to the report, but Island Health is trying to hire more.
While orthopedic surgery needs for just 25% of the region are currently met, within five years, Island Health hopes to meet 50% of those needs.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
