Orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel Hostin, MD, settled with American Transit Insurance Co. and was dropped from a $450 million medical fraud lawsuit, Insurance News Net reported July 9.
Dr. Hostin, who’s married to television host Sunny Hostin, was named alongside more than 180 other defendants who the insurer accused of fraudulent billing and kickbacks. The allegations against Dr. Hostin in the civil lawsuit included performing arthroscopic surgeries following minor car accidents despite their injuries being too minimal to justify the procedures.
But on July 8 American Transit filed a stipulation of voluntary dismissal for Dr. Hostin and his practice, Insurance News Net reported.
Dr. Hostin’s attorney didn’t return a message to Insurance News Net.
