Illinois senator undergoes hip replacement surgery at Rush

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, a Democratic from Illinois, underwent hip replacement surgery at Rush Oak Brook (Ill.) Surgery Center, according to a June 27 report from The Hill.

Mr. Durbin underwent the procedure on June 26 and is recovering in Illinois. He also underwent a knee replacement surgery in October at the same Rush facility. 

“Today, I had a routine hip replacement surgery in Chicago. I’m grateful to the medical staff at Rush for today’s successful procedure, and I look forward to a speedy recovery and climbing the Capitol steps again as soon as possible,” Mr. Durbin, who has been in office since 1997, told The Hill in a statement.
