Hyalex Orthopaedics earns FDA nod for toe implant

Hyalex Orthopaedics earned FDA 510(k) clearance for its Slalom MTP hemiarthroplasty implant, according to an April 21 news release.

The implant is designed around the proprietary Hydrosurf materials platform and is for the treatment of degenerative conditions affecting the first metatarsophalangeal joint. The Slalom device restores joint function while preserving bone and soft tissue.

Hyalex plans to launch the system in a limited U.S. market release.
