HealthPartners to build $48M orthopedic clinic — 5 key notes

HealthPartners is collaborating with TRIA Orthopaedic Center to build a new three-story orthopedic clinic in Woodbury, Minn., according to Star Tribune.

Here are five key notes:

 

1. The 75,000-square-foot facility is projected to cost $48 million.

 

2. Ed Craig, MD, chief executive at TRIA Orthopaedic, said to the Star Tribune, “Orthopedics is probably the fastest growing area of medicine, with our baby boomers aging and staying active longer. The demand for orthopedic services keeps expanding, and will continue to expand over the next 20 years.”

 

3. HealthPartners’ new center will put them in direct competition with physicians at St. Croix Orthopaedics.

 

4. TRIA Orthopaedics was part of the Park Nicollet health system, based in St. Louis, until the system merged with HealthPartners in 2013.

 

5. In 2014, HealthPartners posted an operating income of $198 million and $5.5 billion in revenue.
