Dr. Murphy earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed an orthopedic residency at Greenville Hospital System/University of South Carolina in Greenville. During his residency, Dr. Murphy was selected for the Jackson award, which is given to the best intern in the hospital system.
He completed his fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Miss.
