Memorial Hospital receives high grades for orthopedic care — 4 highlights

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Ind., received five stars from Healthgrades for its orthopedic care.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. The center received the award for its total knee replacement, total hip replacement and hip fracture treatments.

 

2. This is the second consecutive year for the five-star total hip replacement and hip fracture designation.

 

3. Based on Healthgrades analysis of MedPAR data for years 2012 through 2014, patients having total knee replacement in hospitals with five stars, on average, had a 64.9 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with one star.

 

4. This achievement for Memorial Hospital is part of the release of Healthgrades Report to the Nation.
