Dr. Christopher Sforzo honored as mentor — 4 highlights

The Notre Dame Club of Sarasota in Sarasota, Fla., awarded Christopher R. Sforzo, MD, for volunteering with the university’s Summer Service Learning Program.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. Dr. Sforzo is an orthopedic surgeon at Florida Orthopedic Specialists and Sports Medicine.

 

2. Dr. Sforzo is a longtime volunteer with the Summer Service Learning Program, which helps senior pre-med students better understand the challenges of becoming a physician.

 

3. He has mentored two Notre Dame pre-med students each year since 2005.

 

4. The internships are part of an eight-week, three-credit course for the Center of Social Concern at Notre Dame. The program takes place in Sarasota at the Senior Friendship Center and Resurrection House along with practicing physicians.
