Here are three takeaways:
1. Currently, just 29 percent of orthopedic patients at Cairns Hospital are seen on time and the average wait to see a surgeon is 82 days.
2. The majority of the most urgent patients (category one) wait 27 days to be seen, while category two patients can expect to wait almost 18 months. Category three patients, which are the least urgent, are currently being seen after a year and seven months.
3. Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service Chief Executive, Julie Hartley-Jones, said the service was working on strategies to reduce the waiting list.
