Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville earns Blue Distinction for knee and hip replacements — 5 highlights

Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville (Fla.) was selected as a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement by Florida Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

1. The Baptist Center for Joint Replacement opened in June 2009 at Baptist Jacksonville, providing services to more than 4,000 patients.

 

2. The center works with physicians and physician assistants from Jacksonville (Fla.) Orthopaedic Institute.

 

3. The Baptist Center for Joint Replacement’s procedures include total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty and hip resurfacing.

 

4. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated healthcare facilities shown to deliver improved patient safety and better health outcomes based on objective measures developed by Blue Cross Blue Shield companies with input from the medical community.

 

5. According to studies published in the June 2014 Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, knee and hip replacement procedures are among the fastest growing medical treatments in the United States.
