Here are eight things to note about Dr. Andrews:
1. Tyson Kidd suffered a devastating knee injury consisting of a torn ACL, MCL, LCL, meniscus, muscles in the back of the knee and tibia plateau fracture.
2. Dr. Andrews is founding member of Andrew Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, AL.
3. He is also a co-founder of the American Sports Medicine Institute, a non-profit institute focused on injury prevention, education and research in orthopedic and sports medicine.
4. His book, Any Given Monday, was released in January 2013 and detailed how to prevent sports injuries for athletes.
5. Dr. Andrews graduated from Louisiana State University and attended LSU School of Medicine.
6. Dr. Andrews is senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and orthopedic medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.
7. Dr. Andrews presently serves on the Tulane School of Medicine Board of Governors.
8. In 2014, Dr. Andrews received the NCAA President’s Gerald R. Ford Award.
