Here are five highlights:
1. The Dr. Thomas A. Dooley award is conferred on graduates who have exhibited outstanding service to humankind.
2. Dr. Daley received the award for his dedication to providing medical care for the poor in Honduras.
3. Dr. Daley, an orthopedic surgeon, received his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn., where he also completed his residency.
4. He completed a fellowship at Harvard University.
5. In 2003, Dr. Daley built, equipped and staffed the Holy Family Surgery Center, a surgical facility in Honduras whose only mission is to address surgical global health disparities for the poor. It has provided more than 12,000 consultations and 1,700 surgeries since its opening in 2008.
