Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and Deerfield Management, an investment management firm, have launched the Alliance for Innovation in Movement (AIM) to develop technologies focused on musculoskeletal health.
The alliance aims to advance medical device development, therapeutics and AI-enabled software in orthopedics, rheumatology, sports medicine and related specialties,, according to a Nov. 13 system news release.
Cross-functional teams will focus on rapid prototyping, regulatory strategy and clinical validation to accelerate innovations from concept to patient use. Projects will be piloted in real-world clinical environments to incorporate early feedback from patients and clinicians.
The partnership will leverage resources including laboratory space and incubation facilities at Deerfield’s headquarters, alongside clinical input from HSS’ global network of specialists.
