Houston surgeon debuts system to ‘supercharge’ scheduling, case management

Houston-based orthopedic surgeon Ashvin Dewan, MD, has launched a case management platform that uses artificial intelligence and automation to streamline surgical scheduling.

Poor administrative systems lead to millions of dollars in lost revenue annually, with surgeons growing complacent, “following low-tech processes to support their high-tech surgery,” Dr. Dewan said in an Oct. 19 new release.

His CaseCTRL platform intends to “eliminate inefficiencies” in the surgical chain and “optimize and supercharge scheduling.”

The software features a risk analyzer tool that assesses patient risk factors and provides feedback to reduce complications. It can be integrated into an EMR or be used as a standalone app.

Dr. Dewan said the technology will lead to increased case volume, fewer cancellations, greater accountability and more collaboration between stakeholders.
