Here are five key notes:
1. In her new role, Dr. MacLean will co-lead the Value Management Office, established to focus on improving how HSS defines, measures and achieves value. She’ll lead efforts to improve external quality transparency to give information to consumers and other key stakeholders for making care decisions.
2. Dr. MacLean is a rheumatologist with a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and doctorate in health services from UCLA School of Public Health.
3. Dr. MacLean’s previous experience includes time as staff vice president at WellPoint’s Center for Quality Measures and Improvement. She has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare.
4. Hospital for Special Surgery focuses on orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. The hospital is a member of the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College.
5. The new chief value medical officer role will focus on improving quality and achieving the best cost for care.
