Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health has appointed Mark Pallis, DO, as chair of its musculoskeletal institute.

Dr. Pallis, an orthopedic surgeon, joined the organization in 2019 and has been serving as interim chair of the institute since July 2025, according to a June 1 news release from Geisinger.

Under the leadership of Dr. Pallis, six Geisinger hospitals earned recognition as Blue Cross and Blue Shield Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care for orthopedic surgery earlier this year.

Dr. Pallis also serves as a professor of orthopedic surgery at the Geisinger School of Medicine and is a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association.

“It’s an honor to be named the chair of Geisinger’s Musculoskeletal Institute, and I look forward to continuing the work to provide the best orthopaedic care to our communities,” Dr. Pallis said in the release. “I have dedicated my career to helping patients, and I will continue that mission for this department to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to every patient we see.”
