Dr. Matthew Harb: The culture of orthopedics is very forward-thinking and future-focused. Overall, we are dedicated to advancing the specialty, with a focus on technology and techniques to improve patient care and to push the field forward. This can be more recently seen with advances in minimally invasive surgical techniques, same-day joint replacement surgery and rapid recovery protocols. To continue to innovate, orthopedic surgeons must commit to educating the next generation of surgeons. As a hip and knee surgeon myself, I think it’s very important to pass on everything I’ve learned to equip the next generation of surgeons with the knowledge to improve future patient outcomes.
