Former orthopedic surgeon’s patient abuse trial ends in hung jury

The trial for a former orthopedic surgeon accused of patient abuse ended in a hung jury, Boston 25 News reported Sept. 27.

James Devellis, MD, a Boston-based physician, was arrested in Florida in 2022 on accusation he touched patients inappropriately. Some of the alleged abuse also happened at his home, Boston 25 News reported.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s office plans to refile charges against Dr. Devellis. Boston 25 News didn’t receive an immediate reply from Dr. Devellis’ attorney.
