Orthopedic surgeon Wendell Bulmer, DO, has opened applications for the 2026 cycle of his namesake scholarship for undergraduate students pursuing medical school.
The Dr. Wendell Bulmer Scholarship for Medical Students awards a one-time $1,000 grant to a pre-med or science major who demonstrates a commitment to osteopathic principles and whole-person care, according to a Feb. 15 news release.
Applicants must submit an original essay responding to a prompt about how the osteopathic philosophy of treating the patient, not just the illness, shapes their desire to become a physician. The deadline to apply is June 15, and the winner will be announced July 15.
Dr. Bulmer is an orthopedic surgeon and medical educator who has served as chief of staff at Tampa (Fla.) Community Hospital and held faculty roles at Lake Erie (Pa.) College of Osteopathic Medicine.
