Exactech names new chief medical officer

Orthopedic devicemaker Exactech appointed Richard Friedman, MD, as chief medical officer, according to a July 17 news release.

Dr. Friedman is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement and shoulder and elbow disorders. At Exactech, he will support clinical and regulatory work and serve as a resource for surgeons.

He previously served as chief of shoulder and elbow surgery and professor of orthopedic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Friedman earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto in Canada and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Harvard University in Boston.
