Two Indiana residents have been charged after authorities alleged they stole more than $500,000 in medical products from Warsaw, Ind.-based Zimmer Biomet and resold them, according to a July 7 Times-Union report.
Paul Douglas Stellwag II, a former Zimmer Biomet employee, faces charges including dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and theft involving property valued at more than $50,000. Heather Michelle Williams, a Zimmer Biomet distribution handler, was charged with theft involving property valued at more than $50,000 and possession of marijuana. Investigators alleged Ms. Williams stole products from the company and provided them to Mr. Stellwag, who resold them through eBay and WhatsApp.
Authorities said a Feb. 9 search of Mr. Stellwag’s residence uncovered Zimmer Biomet products ranging from surgical devices to implants and power equipment, along with about 177.88 grams of methamphetamine. The following day, Zimmer Biomet representatives identified more than 1,000 products recovered by law enforcement as items listed in the company’s inventory, with an estimated value of more than $500,000, according to the report.
Mr. Stellwag told officers the scheme began in April 2025 and that he and Ms. Williams split the proceeds evenly. A search of Ms. Williams’ cellphone allegedly uncovered messages referencing requested product numbers, communications about obtaining the items and notes containing Zimmer Biomet item numbers and an emoji-based code used to identify products. Both cases remain pending.
