Ex-NFL player, orthopedic surgeon joins Colorado health system

NFL player-turned-orthopedic surgeon Braden Jones, MD, was recently hired by Southwest Health System in Cortez, Colo.

Dr. Jones specializes in partial and total knee replacement, minimally invasive hip replacement and fracture care.

Before his medical career, he played football at Carbondale-based Southern Illinois University and for the Minnesota Vikings.

He returned to Southern Illinois University to earn his medical degree and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Florida Health in Gainesville.

Adding Dr. Jones has enabled SHS to provide 24/7 orthopedic care for the first time in several years. 

He is seeing patients at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez.
