Essentia Health planning orthopedic center

Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health plans to construct an orthopedic center at its Baxter, Minn., location, the health system said Nov. 20.

Five things to know:

1. The Essentia Health Musculoskeletal Center-Baxter will offer orthopedic surgery, podiatry, interventional pain care, imaging and other services, according to a news release. 

2. The space will have 70 exam and procedure rooms and an indor and outdoor rehabilitation gym. 

3. The facility will also include orthopedic urgent care, a drive-through pharmacy and expanded spine services.

4. The building will have an extra 50,000 square feet of space that will initially be unused, but the health system will explore options to incorporate it into the clinic space. 

5. Essentia plans to break ground on the project in early 2025, and construction would take about 18 months.
