Dr. William Smith participates in Operation Walk USA

William Smith, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Tifton, Ga.-based Tift Regional Medical Center, performed a free joint replacement through Operation Walk USA 2019, the Valdosta Daily Times reports.

From Dec. 2-7, some 60 patients underwent a free joint replacement procedure at hospitals across the nation. Dr. Smith performed a knee replacement on Carolyn Zaoudachvili of Ashburn, Ga. Operation Walk USA is currently in its 10th year. It takes place every December.

David Banks, MD, of Georgia Sports Medicine in Tifton, introduced the program to Tifts a few years ago.
