The procedure was a medial meniscectomy in Mr. Newcomb’s right knee, according to a Dec. 20 news release from the team.

The surgery is to help resolve lingering discomfort Mr. Newcomb experienced while rehabilitating from a previous surgery on his left knee.

The team expects Mr. Newcomb to be ready to return to action for spring training.

Dr. Workman is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and is the head team physician for the Athletics.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
