Here are three things to know about the physician group’s new orthopedic surgeon, Tom Smith, DO:
1. He specializes in general orthopedics, sports medicine and joint replacement, with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery.
2. He holds memberships with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American Medical Association, among other professional societies.
3. He earned his medical degree from Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens. He went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Lansing-based Michigan State University and a fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
