Dr. Simon Mears returns to UAMS orthopedic surgery department

Simon Mears, MD, PhD, has rejoined the Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Mears is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, according to a March 25 news release from UAMS.

He first joined UAMS in 2025. Dr. Mears recently completed a year in an endowed professorship in orthopedics at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Clinical outcomes of hip and knee replacement and the biomechanics of fixation in osteoporotic bone are among his clinical interests, the release said.
