Dr. Scott Sigman honored at fundraiser: 3 notes

The Megan House Foundation honored Scott A. Sigman, MD, a past chief of orthopedics at Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital, at a gala Sept. 28, lowellsun.com reports.

Here are three things to know:

1. Dr. Sigman is a board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at Orthopedic Surgical Associates of Lowell. He received his medical degree from Baltimore-based University of Maryland School of Medicine and underwent sports medicine fellowship training at Los Angeles-based Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

2. Megan’s House is a residential substance-abuse treatment home with 28 beds for women between 18 and 26 years of age. The foundation opened a second house and is constructing a third home for single mothers and their children.

3. The “Building Bridges to Recovery” gala at UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center raised $130,000.
