Dr. Scott Baron to retire after 34-year orthopedic surgery career: 5 notes

Belle Vernon, Pa.-based The Orthopedic Group founding partner and orthopedic surgeon Scott L. Baron, MD, will retire after providing care for 34 years, according to Observer-Reporter.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Baron specializes in total joint replacement, including total hip and knee replacement.

2. A former president of Monongahela (Pa.) Valley Hospital’s medical staff, Dr. Baron serves on the hospital’s executive board and is chairman of its department of surgery.

3. Dr. Baron is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society and Eastern Orthopaedic Association.

4. He earned his medical degree from and completed his residency at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

5. The Orthopedic Group and Monongahela Valley Hospital will recognize Dr. Baron’s 34-year career at an open house and farewell event Dec. 13.
