Richard E. Bowen, MD, serves as the director at the Center for Sports Medicine at Orthopaedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles.

Here are seven things to know:

 

1. Dr. Bowen is also the director of the Graduate Medical Education Program at OIC.

 

2. He serves as the co-director of the institute’s Pediatric Spinal Deformity Program.

 

3. In addition to these roles, Dr. Bowen serves as an orthopedic surgery clinical professor at David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles.

 

4. His clinical interests include sports medicine, spinal deformity, spina bifida and osteogenesis imperfecta.

 

5. A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Bowen is also affiliated with the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and Scoliosis Research Society.

 

6. After obtaining his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Bowen completed his residency and one fellowship at the same institution.

 

7. Dr. Bowen completed two more fellowships at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Kaiser-Orange County Medical Center and Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Orange County, Calif.
