Dr. Richard Berger bolsters practice with telehealth — 3 things to know

Total joint specialist Richard Berger, MD, has expanded his practice at Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush by offering telehealth consultations to out-of-state patients.

Three things to know:

1. Dr. Berger’s practice is providing pre-and postoperative telemedicine appointments to streamline the care process and ease patients’ concerns about contracting COVID-19 from visiting the hospital.  

2. He was the first surgeon to perform more than 11,000 outpatient joint replacements, and pioneered a minimally invasive technique that avoids cutting any muscle, ligaments or tendons.

3. Last March, the Western Society of Engineers honored Dr. Berger with the 2020 Washington Award for his contributions to joint replacement.
