Dr. Rahul Vaidya named chair of orthopedics at Wayne State University School of Medicine

Rahul Vaidya, MD, is Detroit-based Wayne State University School of Medicine’s new chair of orthopedics, according to an Oct. 5 news release.

Dr. Vaidya is chief of orthopedic trauma at Detroit Receiving Hospital and service chief of orthopedics at the Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, the Wayne State University said. He also is a professor of orthopedic surgery.

He joined Wayne State’s faculty in 2009. Dr. Vaidya is the site director at Wayne State’s medicine clerkship rotation and director of the orthopedic trauma rotation in the department of emergency medicine.

Dr. Vaidya holds 12 medical patents ad is a prolific author. He’s a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the Michigan Orthopaedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
