Dr. Tornetta, director of orthopedic trauma at Boston Medical Center, will serve for the 2024-2025 term, and he is in the third year of a four-year term on the AAOS board of directors, according to a Feb. 14 news release. He has been involved with the AAOS’ education council, was a past chair of the annual meeting committee and former evaluations committee. He also helped launch the AAOS Resident Orthopaedic Core Knowledge Curriculum.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as AAOS president,” Dr. Tornetta said in the release. “As orthopedic surgeons, we share a strong bond based in helping others. We have the tools to contribute to the greater good — to make a positive impact on the well-being of others that few people can.”
Dr. Tornetta earned his medical degree and completed his residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. At Boston University, he has been recognized for his resident education, and he has more than 350 peer-reviewed publications.
