Neal ElAttrache, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Félix Bautista, a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles.
Dr. ElAttrache successfully completed surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and a torn labrum on Mr. Bautista’s right shoulder, according to an Aug. 20 news release from MLB.
The procedure will cause Mr. Bautista to miss at least 12 months, meaning he will miss a large portion, if not all, of the 2026 MLB season.
Mr. Bautista began experiencing shoulder inflammation in July, and it was determined that he would not play again in the 2025 season in August.
Keith Meister, MD, performed Tommy John elbow surgery on Mr. Bautista in 2023, which forced him to miss the entirety of the 2024 MLB season.
Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He also serves as head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as the Los Angeles Rams.
