Neal ElAttrache, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Zack Gelof, a second baseman for the Athletics.
The procedure was an anterior labral-capsule repair in Mr. Gelof’s left shoulder, according to a Sept. 24 report from espn.com.
Mr. Gelof suffered the injury during a game Sept. 19 when he dove to field a ground ball.
Mr. Gelof will miss the remainder of the 2025 MLB season but is expected to make a full recovery before the start of next season, the report said.
Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He also serves as head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as the Los Angeles Rams.
