Mike Banffy, MD, performed surgery on Lawrence Butler, an outfielder for the Athletics, at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Center in Los Angeles on Oct. 3.
Dr. Banffy completed a partial tendon repair and debridement of chronic scar tissue. In addition, Mr. Lawrence received a PRP injection into his left patella tendon to address chronic tendonitis, according to an Oct. 3 news release from Major League Baseball.
Mr. Butler will undergo rehab throughout the offseason to prepare for the start of the 2026 MLB season.
Dr. Banffy is an orthopedic surgeon and chief of sports medicine at Cedars-Sinai. In addition, he serves as team physician for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams.
