Here are five things to know:
1. The procedure requires a surgeon to harvest a small sample of cartilage cells from the patient’s knee in an arthroscopic procedure and impregnate them on a mesh collagen membrane and re-implant them into the patient’s knee to fix the defect.
2. The outpatient procedure is approved by the FDA and allows patients to begin rehabilitation immediately.
3. Dr. Kuhn specializes in arthroscopic surgery, cartilage restoration and meniscal transplantation.
